Konjac cleansing sponges are a natural, plant-based skin care product made from the corms of the konjac plant. While the gelatinous extract of these plants has been eaten in Japan since ancient times, at some point in the Edo period (1603 to 1868) it was discovered to be a gentle and effective scrub for sensitive skin. First used on infants suffering from heat rash, it was later noted to be an excellent moisturizer and cleanser for facial skin, and grew in popularity as a beauty product for women. Produced naturally through a slow process of drying and sun-bleaching, the finished konjac sponge is incredibly soft yet at the same time fibrous, gently exfoliating while cleansing the pores and moisturizing the skin.
Made of natural materials, gentle enough for the most sensitive skin
Konjac cleansing sponges are made of 100% natural materials and contain no preservatives or artificial coloring. Konjac sponges are hand-crafted in a process developed more than 130 years ago.
You don't need a cleansing agent!
Glucomannan, a natural fiber of the konjac plant, is preserved and abundantly present in the konjac sponge. Glucomannan has a high affinity for water, and holds water in between the outer konjac membrane and the surface of your skin. The water-impregnated natural fibers gently cleanse your face, requiring no soap to leave your skin smooth, moist and radiant.
Made from the corms of the Konjac plant. It's all natural, even edible, and gently cleanses with just warm water.
Konjac sponges can only be manufactured during the cold winter months. With the help of nature, bleaching is done outdoors, requiring about two months of exposure to snow, wind and sun.
Use a konjac sponge and immediately notice how smooth and soft your skin becomes.
Konjac is especially good for skin that is sensitive, and can be especially soothing on skin that is irritated or sunburned.
How to Use (Important!)
The sponge is sold dry. Please soak it in warm water for a few minutes to impregnate the konjac cells with water before using. Gently wash your face with the sponge after it has been softened. (Do not use the sponge dry.)
After using, please rinse the sponge with clean water. Gently squeeze out the water and put the sponge in a plastic bag or container after use.. Ideally, to extend the life of the sponge, store it in a refrigerator. If you cannot store in the refrigerator, please dry in a well-ventilated place.
This natural plant product will last approximately 4 weeks.
If you have a reaction after using this product, please stop using it immediately.
Avoid using the sponge with cleansers or harsh chemicals. Konjac is plant-based and easily degraded by harsh chemicals.
Leaving your sponge wet, and in a humid shower stall or bathroom, will shorten the life of the sponge.
As with all items exposed to moisture, improper care can lead to the presence of mold. If you detect mold, discard the sponge.
